SongMakers Workshop

Last week the VET Music students spent two full days songwriting, facilitated by APRA/AMCOS SongMakers.

The SongMakers core program consists of a two-day intensive workshops that unite aspiring songwriters, producers, and artists with industry professionals to collaboratively compose and record original music within a school setting.

At the heart of the program is a unique connection between accomplished songwriters and producers with young people and educators. This innovative approach fosters a dynamic collaboration between schools and the industry, promoting shared creativity and fresh perspectives.

The 16 students wrote, recorded and produced four songs - ‘You Shot the Dove’ (Ash, Clancy, Hamish, Declan), ’51 Victoria Street’ (Ruby, Nash, Charlotte, Brad), ‘Mummy of a Man’ (Elias, Tom, Vance, Emma), ‘Pastimes’ (Mikayla, Callum, Layla, Mason).

The entire cohort were awarded the ‘Tune rag’ for their incredible generosity towards each other and their willingness to give everything a go. Hamish M was named MVP and awarded another ‘Tune Rag’ for his attitude, insatiable desire for knowledge and his absolutely shredding guitar solo.

Listen out for these fantastic songs in the near future – earworms and tiktok tunes abound!
