SPECIALIST FEATURE NEWS
你 好 (ni hao)
We are very happy to welcome back all our students for an exciting term 3!
Across all of the specialist classes this week, we celebrated NAIDOC Week through a range of explorations and activities. In Visual Arts, students learnt about First Nations totems and their connection to animals and Country. Students chose a native Australian animal to represent through line, pattern and shape, creating their very own totem artwork. Some of these fabulous totem artworks will be displayed in the Creative Hub alongside our whole-school Rainbow Serpent!
In other exciting news, we have been selected to participate in the Picasso Cow Program through Dairy Australia. In the coming weeks, we will be having a large model cow delivered to the school that we get to decorate. The year 5/6 students will be exploring health and nutrition in their wellbeing lessons, which will inform their ideas to help design our school cow, before painting, decorating and naming it. Our cow will be judged against other selected schools with prizes up for grabs! All students across the school will also have a chance to create some cow-inspired artwork across the term, as well as help out with deciding on a name for our new friend.
The Specialist team are very excited to be inviting our Kinder Students to the Creative Hub on Wednesday 22nd July (Week 2) for a discovery afternoon. We will have a range of fun activities to try across each specialist area. We can't wait to see you there!
