Performing Arts and Co-Curricular Program

Term 3 is up and running in Performing Arts! Here is some of our news.

Creative Music in Schools

This week we warmly welcome Alex Sgro, who will be teaching keyboard/piano lessons.  Alex will be replacing Annie Bui while she is in Los Angeles working on her latest musical project. He joins Ruberto Salazar, who is teaching drums, guitar, and vocals. Together they are preparing students for our upcoming Semester 2 Showcase. There are space in both programs for students wanting to take lessons. An information brochure/expression of interest form is available from the Performing Arts office.

Ensembles

All ensembles are up and running! Marian College Choir is preparing for the Showcase, and looking ahead to other College gatherings, such as Awards, Graduation, and the End of Year Mass. Play Ukelele are working on their challenge piece, an arrangement of Pachabel's famous 'Canon in D', and Concert Band are looking to embrace new students from the current Year 7 instrumental classes.

Showcase

The Performing Arts Co-curricular Showcase will be held at the end of Term 3, on Thursday 19th September, from 7-8pm in the O'Neill Auditorium. We are celebrating the upcoming graduation of several year 12 students who have been a big part of the Performing Arts Co-curricular program, many since their days as Year 7 students. There is no charge, and details will follow regarding bookings. It's a great night to see what Performing Arts has to offer, so save the date!
