Discovery Day Excitement
On Thursday, 18th July, Marian College hosted a Discovery Day for St Theresa's Primary School students. The day was filled with exploration, hands-on activities, and insightful interactions, giving the young visitors a glimpse into their future educational journey.
The students eagerly explored the school grounds and various facilities. The day’s activities included sessions in STEM, Woodwork, and Food Technology.
In the STEM session, the students worked with Sphero robots, learning basic coding to navigate the robots through challenges. The excitement was tangible as they watched their coded commands come to life.
In the woodwork session, the students used scrap wood to create little sculptures, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills. They learned the basics of woodworking and safety measures, resulting in impressive creations.
The Food Technology session was a delicious experience. The students made chocolate balls, learning about measuring ingredients, mixing techniques, and kitchen hygiene. Creating and tasting their sweet treats was a highlight of the day.
Throughout the day, our Marian students spoke with the visiting primary school students about secondary school life, answering questions and sharing experiences, providing valuable insights into what the younger students can look forward to.
Both students and teachers had a fantastic day filled with learning and fun. The primary school students left with a better understanding of secondary school and excitement for their future educational journey. We look forward to welcoming them back next year for another memorable Discovery Day.
