Reflection

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary
Friday 15 August was the Feast of the Assumption of Mary.
We give thanks and praise for her grace-filled and blessed life as we celebrated her crowning glory in her assumption into heaven with a whole School Mass.
As Jesus’ mother, Mary showed us the extent of human love, motherly nurturing and selfless service. May all people of the earth learn to embrace one another in love, compassion and service, especially at this busy time of the year
As a disciple, Mary faithfully followed Jesus right to the end. May those in positions of leadership learn from her example of discipleship and lead with honesty, integrity and hope.
Attentive to God, Mary listened. May we be open to God’s plans for us with a listening heart and respond with a generous spirit. May we be aware of how God is calling us.
Mary was aware of Jesus’ needs. Let us realise and address the needs of the members of our own communities, especially those who are sick, recovering from illness or who have recently lost loved ones. May we be aware of the needs of the wider world and pray for peace in the Holyland and in the Ukraine.
Mary was a person of deep prayer and reflection. May we take more time to communicate with God.
