News from the Rowing Sheds
Mr Andrew Pinelli, Rowing Coordinator
On Friday 7 November, our rowing community came together for the annual Blessing of the Boats, which created a wonderful atmosphere to mark the start of the 2025/26 season. We were fortunate to have College Principal, Mr Damian Messer and Mr Jon Franzin, Principal of St Virgil's College, join us for this important tradition. The ceremony also allowed us to announce our Rowing Captains for the season. Special congratulations to our newly appointed Captain, Ruby Wighton (Year 11) and Vice Captains, Lucinda Washington and Lucy Pinelli (Year 10), pictured above.
Mini Quad Regatta
SMC and SVC recently hosted a very successful mini regatta from our sheds at New Town Bay. A huge thank you to our family and friends for generously supporting our Canteen, which we ran as part of the event. Thanks to your effort, we raised more than $5,000 – a fantastic outcome! With favourable weather, all of our rowers were able to complete their two races, which made it an excellent day on the water.
Point to Pinnacle
What an amazing effort last weekend when the Saints were asked to assist with the drink stands for this year's Point to Pinnacle. We are so fortunate to have such supportive families, with strong numbers helping at the seven drink stations. Despite the changeable weather – sun, cloud, drizzle, rainbows, thick fog (and repeat!), our volunteers stayed buys, especially with the record numbers participating. Thanks to this amazing effort, we raised more than $3,000 during the weekend.

Schools Regatta 1
This weekend, our rowers will be travelling to Lake Barrington for the first time this season. This is a truly exciting opportunity for everyone involved. While it's certainly a long drive to the lake, the experience is invaluable for our athletes. I look forward to sharing some pleasing results in the next edition of The Fountain.
