JSSATIS AFL Gala | Years 5 and 6
Last week, our enthusiastic team of Year 5 and 6 students proudly represented St Mary’s College at the JSSATIS AFL Gala. The event brought together teams from other JSSATIS schools to participate in a round-robin competition designed to provide students with greater exposure to the sport.
Despite the blustery conditions and facing some very strong and experienced opposition, our players demonstrated true St Mary’s spirit – playing with determination, teamwork and heart. At no stage did they drop their heads or give up!
The Four Rs, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Relationships, were clearly on display throughout the afternoon, and we could not be prouder of the way our students represented our College.
A big thank you to our coach extraordinaire, Miss Kate Jordan, for her enthusiasm and guidance, and to our families for their wonderful support in encouraging students to take part in opportunities like this.

Interschool Athletics Carnivals
A huge congratulations to all our amazing athletes who represented St Mary’s College at the STCPSSA and JSSATIS Interschool Athletics Carnivals over the past two weeks at the Domain Athletics Centre.
We are so proud of the effort, determination and team spirit shown by every student who took part. There were some incredible individual results and plenty of personal bests, but what stood out most was the way our athletes supported, encouraged and celebrated each other throughout the carnivals. Their positive energy, enthusiasm and sportsmanship truly reflected what it means to be part of the St Mary’s community.
Well done to our whole interschool athletics team – they gave it their all and represented our school with pride.
Pictured below are our Year 6 100m relay runners, Lili Hall, Charli Skinner, Madeline Palermo and Isla Whitfield, proudly showing off their second-place ribbons from the STCPSSA carnival. The following week, the team went one better at the JSSATIS carnival, finishing first and ending their final junior interschool athletics carnival on a winning note. Well done, team!

Championship glory for our Div 1 basketball teams
The College is buzzing with excitement after the incredible achievement of our 9/10 Division 1 and 7/8 Division 1 basketball teams, who both claimed championship titles at the Basketball Tasmania 2025 Regional High Schools Tournament.
We are now the proud holders of both the junior and senior girls' shields for the south (and no, you're not seeing double!). These talented students showcased confidence, passion and teamwork to bring home the victories. We are incredibly proud of the positive attitude and commitment they’ve shown throughout the season, making this a truly well‑earned accomplishment.
Congratulations to all the players, coaches, parents/carers and supporters for an outstanding season!
