The Arts

What a great start to the term we have had! The students have continued their creative endeavours in the areas of Music, Drama and Visual Arts. Hopefully, students have been coming home and sharing some of their experiences in our artistic space :)
Prep
In Music, the Prep students have started to explore the different musical families in the orchestra, including the string, woodwind, brass and percussion families. In Visual Art, students have started exploring how to create accurate self-portraits using different mediums, such as oil pastels, dye and torn paper.
1/2
In Music, the 1/2 students have started to explore the different musical instruments found in the orchestra. For example, at the start of the week, they learnt about instruments in the string family, such as violins and cellos. They also acted like animals found in the orchestral story 'Peter and the Wolf'. In Visual Art, students have started exploring art work from different cultures and emulating their styles, such as the work of Indigenous Australians. Some of these styles are incude dot painting and wool weaving.
3/4
In Music, the 3/4 students have begun learning to play the ukulele. They have learnt how to perform different strums and chords, and to play and sing a range of songs. They also learnt to play along with percussion instruments. In Drama, the students are starting to create a short performance that they will perform for some of the younger students in the school later in the term. This week, they have participated in an audition process to help decide what part they will play in the performance.
5/6
In Music, the 5/6 students have begun learning to play the ukulele. They have learnt a range of songs to play and have begun to explore how to strum different chords correctly. They also had to play along with percussion instruments. In Drama, students are continuing to rehearse for the 5/6 production that will be held this term at Grovedale College on Thursday the 26th of June. Students have started to learn the lyrics and choreopgrahy for some of the songs to be performed in the show.
Thank you!
