Prep

Welcome back to Term 2. Everyone has started really well, and it's great to see that we have just picked up where we left off. Great work, Preps!
Literacy
In Literacy, we have been learning about all the different letters. Students have been practising writing letters, making the sounds, and using the different sounds to build words. We have almost made it through the whole alphabet—we are now only missing x, y, and q (these will be explored in the next few weeks).
We have been practising our high-frequency words (Prep Golden Words), rhyming, alliteration and syllables. Students have been great at identifying if the words sound the same or not, along with identifying breaks in words to identify the syllables.
Students have been reading books that include patterns. Students have been identifying the pattern in the books, together we have read - Pete the Cat: I Love My New Shoes and We're Going On A Bear Hunt. Students used the pattern identified in the book and created their own pages of the book.
Maths
In Maths, we have continued to practice our counting skills, counting one by one. We have explored what 'less' and 'more' mean. Students can look at two different numbers and say which they believe is 'more' or 'less'. We have also looked at different collections on unifix blocks and counters, and students had to prove which had 'less' or 'more'.
We have also explored graphs and different ways to collect information (data). Students have been asking 'yes or no' questions of their peers and recording the answers in T-charts, making picture graphs and co-constructing bar graphs.
Humanities
In Humanities, we have been exploring the features of natural and constructed places. Students explored different places around the school yard and we able to identify if they were natural or constructed.
