Music Department News

2024 has been a year of change for the Reservoir High School Music Department. The facilities have been given a facelift and much new equipment has been acquired to take music into the next phase of continued evolution.

The Instrumental Music program continues to thrive with the highest number of enrolments ever. With the ever-growing list of instruments on offer for tuition, the extra-curricular ensembles are to growing and the standard of performance from each group continues to flourish.

There have been a wide variety of performance events throughout the year that have seen our students develop into talented young musicians.

Our senior students showed why they are considered leaders of the school by setting high standards and paving the way for the younger musicians moving up and joining  the program.

In Semester 1 we saw a successful Music Showcase putting on the best of what Reservoir High has to offer from the music department. Semester 2 saw the return of the cross-platform Performing Arts Night in which all disciplines of the Arts were featured, including some of our extremely talented musicians. VCE music students were featured in two VCE Soiree evenings in which they had the opportunity to showcase their performance repertoire in preparation for their Unit 4 Performance Examinations. Students also had the chance to perform at Musicland in Fawkner. An invaluable experience performing at a professional venue.

2024 promises to be an even bigger year ahead as the music department continues to grow and become a more prominent figure within the wider Reservoir High School community.
