A Crescendo of Activity! | Music Room Etiquette | Meet the Team!
A big hello and warm welcome to our May newsletter from the dedicated Music Team here at Chelt.Sec!
What an exciting start to the term it has been! We continue to be incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication of all our students, and we’re thrilled to share some of the recent highlights and upcoming events.
Honouring Our History: ANZAC Assembly Performance
We were immensely proud to support our magnificent Concert Band and our very own Victorian State School Spectacular Super Star, Dominique Rault, in their incredibly moving performance at the recent ANZAC assembly. The reverence and maturity shown by our student performers were truly exceptional.
The success of this performance is a testament to the long-term commitment and passion of our Instrumental Music teachers. They have nurtured, supported, and encouraged our singers and musicians over many years, allowing them to perform at such a confident level of excellence and expertise on such an important and solemn occasion. Their guidance ensures our students are not only technically proficient but also emotionally connected to the music they perform.
Hitting the Right Notes: The Avenues Band
Rehearsals for the Avenues Band have been progressing steadily, and the sound coming out of the music rooms is truly inspiring! We are excited about the strong and diverse repertoire we have curated for this year's competition, which promises to challenge and showcase the versatility of our talented members.
Last Saturday, The Avenues Band had the privilege of performing at the Oakleigh South Primary School Fete. They played for a rapturous and appreciative audience, bringing energy and excitement to the event. The primary school community was incredibly grateful to Chelt.Sec for our donation of time and effort towards the day’s entertainment. For several members of the band, who are OSPS alumni, it was a particularly amazing and nostalgic experience to be back on their primary school turf, having spent many years working at the OSPS fete as students themselves. It’s wonderful to see the connections between our schools and celebrate our students' journeys.
Showcase of Talent: Upcoming Concerts
The month of May is filled with opportunities to celebrate the musical achievements of our students!
Debut and Ensembles Concert
Our Instrumental Music students are meticulously preparing for the highly anticipated Combined Debut and Ensembles Concert on Wednesday 20th May.
The Year 7 Debut students are absolutely buzzing with excitement about making their very first performance on the Chelt.Sec stage! They have been working incredibly hard all year in their instrumental lessons and ensemble rehearsals, demonstrating commitment and rapid progress. This is a crucial milestone in their musical journey, and we encourage everyone to attend and give them a huge, supportive welcome. All family, friends, and staff are warmly welcome to attend this concert.
VCE Performance Students
Our dedicated VCE Performance students are deep in preparation for their crucial upcoming performance assessments. These performances require significant dedication, technical skill, and artistry. They are working hard to perfect their chosen programs, and we are confident they will deliver performances of exceptional quality. Please stay tuned for the specific dates and times for these performances. When announced, we urge the entire Chelt.Sec community to come along and support them as they take this important step in their final years of music studies.
Celebrating Diversity: Cultural Diversity Week
On Thursday 21st May, we will be celebrating Culture Diversity Week, and the Music Department is thrilled to be playing a central role. Several of our incredibly talented voice students will be presenting material in many different languages, reflecting the rich and vibrant diversity within our school community. This promises to be a very special and moving occasion, showcasing music from around the globe. We encourage everyone to engage fully with the performances, cheer loudly, and offer enthusiastic support to our students as they share their cultural heritage through music.
We look forward to seeing you all at these exciting upcoming events!
