Performing Arts

Term 2, 2026
Welcome to Term 2 in Performing Arts! Students will continue building their musical skills through performance, rhythm, notation, and collaborative music-making.
Preps: Students have been continuing their learning of basic music notation including ta and ti-ti, exploring rhythm through movement activities, and practising simple melodies on tuned percussion instruments like the chime bars. So far we have worked on 'Rain Rain Go Away' and they are doing an amazing job!
Grade 1/2: Students have been developing their tuned percussion skills by playing melodies, harmonies, and bass notes in Orff-style arrangements, while also revisiting music notation and keeping in time with a steady beat. So far they have mastered 'Old MacDonald had a Farm', and will be moving on to a new song next week!
Grade 3/4: Students will continue building their ukulele skills from last term by learning new chords (such as G major) and expanding their song repertoire, while also beginning to learn how to read notes on the stave.
Grade 5/6: Students are selecting an instrument to focus on and are learning songs collaboratively as part of a band, developing both instrumental and ensemble performance skills.
