New Social Media Regulations - SchoolTV Resource

SchoolTV have published a special report focusing on the new social media regulations.

These new regulations provide an opportunity to talk openly with your child about their online experiences and what these changes mean for them. It's also a chance to review family technology habits, reinforce healthy routines, and explore age-appropriate ways for young people to connect, learn and express themselves.

This Special Report explains what the new laws mean in practice and offers practical guidance to help families prepare for the upcoming changes.

Child Safe Information

St Brigid’s College holds the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility. Central to the mission of our Catholic schools in Horsham – St Brigid’s College and Ss Michael & John’s Primary School - is an absolute commitment to fostering the dignity, self-esteem and integrity of children and young people and providing them with a safe, supportive and enriching environment to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

Our school creates a culture of safety by proactively preventing child abuse and harm rather than merely reacting to incidents.  We provide training, workshops, programs, and digital resources to our staff, students, volunteers, and families for identifying and responding to risks and reducing or removing the risk of harm in physical and online environments.  We write risk management plans for all school activities, and our school identifies, assesses, and manages risks to child safety and wellbeing in our Child Safe Risk Register, which outlines strategies to reduce or eliminate risks, ensuring compliance with child safe standards.  

We ensure that child safety is a standard item on staff and School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting agendas and report back to our school community via the SAC on our child safe risk assessments, training, and programs.  As partners with families in Catholic Education, we pursue fullness of life for all and welcome your contact with our school Leadership, Child Safety Officer, and staff.

All our Child Safety Policies can be viewed on our website.  As valuable partners in promoting and maintaining child safety and wellbeing at our school, we welcome and encourage your feedback. 

All of our policies and procedures are available to our school community in hard copy by request from the School Office.
