Years 3 - 5

On Tuesday, our Year 3–5 students travelled to Coleraine’s Silvester Oval to participate in the Lightning Premierships. This was our first time joining the competition, and it was a fantastic experience for all involved. Students had the option to play either netball or football in mixed teams with students from other schools, including Merino, Coleraine and Casterton Primary Schools. We were very lucky with the weather, with the rain holding off throughout the day.

Each sport played six rounds of games, with the top two netball teams progressing to a Grand Final. Congratulations to all of our students for their fantastic efforts, sportsmanship and willingness to play alongside new people. We also had our very own Miss Sartain umpiring the 3/4 netball games throughout the day. A special mention goes to Will, who stepped up as the Assistant Coach for his team. By the end of the day, according to his coach, he was almost ready to take on the top job!

In 3/4 football, our winners were Jaxon Peters and Will Hamilton, who were in the Sharks teamed for the Sharks. Max Luhrs and Anderson Russell were runners-up with the Falcons. Over on the netball court, our 5/6 winners were Maddie Porter with coach Jade Russell, who were part of the Giants team. Sienna Huf was a runner-up with team Magic. In the 3/4 competition, Evelyn Longcor was a winner with team Fever.

Everyone had a fantastic time meeting new people, making connections and enjoying some friendly competition. It was a wonderful experience and one that we look forward to participating in again.
