Years F - 2

F/1/2 have been learning all about Mass in Maths! Students have been practising their hefting skills and making predictions about which objects they think are heavier or lighter. We then used scales to test our predictions and compare the mass of different objects. Students also practised ordering objects from lightest to heaviest. We have been completing lots of group work during Maths, and it has been wonderful to see students working together to present their findings, supporting their peers and helping to teach each other different concepts. There has been lots of great mathematical thinking and teamwork happening in our classroom!
In Art, students explored the work of famous artist Wassily Kandinsky and created their own concentric circle artworks inspired by his colourful pieces. Using pastels, students experimented with different colours, patterns and combinations to create bright and joyful artworks. It was lovely to see their creativity shine through, with each artwork being completely unique!
In PE, we have commenced our Netball unit. This week, students learnt how to pass the ball accurately to their teammates and began learning how to pivot. Students have been practising their skills, working together and having lots of fun developing their netball abilities. We are looking forward to building on these skills in the coming weeks!
A big thank you to Hayley Grigg for kindly donating a beautiful handmade horse to our classroom. The students were very excited to welcome our new class member and held a class vote to decide on a name. After some very creative suggestions, the winning name was Waffles!
Enjoy your weekend!
