Principal's Report

It has been another busy and exciting few weeks at Whitehorse Primary School, with plenty happening across our school and community. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with many of our families in the yard and see such positive learning happening across the school.

Welcoming Isaac to our 5/6 Team

Next week, we farewell Elyse as she begins her family leave. We are incredibly grateful for the care, commitment and positive relationships she has built with our 5/6 students and families.

We are pleased to welcome Isaac Ballintine to our 5/6 team. Isaac has been working closely with Elyse this week, completing a thorough handover and getting to know the students and routines of the classroom. We are looking forward to Isaac becoming an important part of our school community and wish Elyse all the very best as she begins this exciting next chapter with her family.

Specialist Expo

We are very excited to be preparing for our Specialist Expo, which will provide our students and families with an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the wonderful learning that takes place across our specialist programs.

The Expo will be held on Tuesday September 1. We look forward to welcoming our community and sharing some of the creativity, learning and achievements of our students.

NAPLAN 2026 – Another Positive Year

We are very proud of our 2026 NAPLAN results, which continue to reflect the quality teaching and learning taking place across Whitehorse Primary School.

Our results highlight the impact of our ongoing focus on explicit teaching, high expectations and targeted instruction. While data is only one measure of student success, it provides valuable feedback about the effectiveness of our teaching practices and helps us identify where we can continue to improve.

I would like to acknowledge the incredible work of our teachers and education support staff, as well as the dedication of our students. These results are a reflection of the collective effort of our entire school community.

Parent Forums - Communication and Consultation

Thank you to the parents who attended our Parent Forum on Monday. These conversations are incredibly valuable and provide us with an opportunity to listen, reflect and better understand the experiences and perspectives of our families.

Some of the key themes raised on Monday included a desire to better understand the role of our Education Support staff/Intervention programs, as well as the importance of providing opportunities and events that cater for different student cohorts across the school.

Our next Parent Forum will be held this Friday at 2:00pm, and I encourage parents to join us if they are able. Your voice matters, and these conversations help shape the ongoing development of our school.

Connecting Through the Whitehorse Family Network

We are also excited about the ongoing opportunities provided through our Whitehorse Family Network. This is a wonderful way for parents and families to develop a deeper connection with our school community, stay informed about upcoming events and share ideas about how we can continue to bring our community closer together.

Attached to this newsletter is information about how you can join the network. We would love to see more families involved and look forward to building even stronger connections across our school.

Pyjama Day – This Friday!

A reminder that Pyjama Day is happening this Friday! We look forward to seeing our students and staff arriving at school in their favourite pyjamas.

Unfortunately, we were unable to secure a booking with the Toastie Truck this time around, but that won't stop us from having a great day together. Thank you to our community for your understanding, and we can't wait to see everyone in their PJs!

Kiss & Go Zone – Wakefield Drive

A reminder to families using the Kiss & Go zone on Wakefield Drive that the area is designed to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently during our busy drop-off and pick-up times. We ask families to please switch off your car engine while waiting in the Kiss & Go zone. This small action makes a big difference to the air quality around our school and supports the work of our Environment Team, who are encouraging our community to reduce unnecessary vehicle emissions. Thank you for helping us create a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment for our students, staff and families.

5/6 Camp

Finally, our 5/6 students are getting ready for camp, beginning next Wednesday. This is always such an exciting time for our students and staff.

Camp provides much more than an opportunity to get away from the classroom. It gives our students the chance to develop resilience, independence, confidence and stronger friendships, while creating memories that will stay with them for years to come.

We are looking forward to seeing our 5/6 students embrace the challenges and opportunities that camp provides, and we thank our staff for the time and effort they have put into preparing for what will be a fantastic three days.
