HSC MODERN HISTORY INCURSION

Last Friday the 50 students who study HSC Modern History attended a lecture by Jonathan Dallimore, the Education Officer for the NSW History Teachers Association.

The presentation was on the topic being studied currently - Russia and the Soviet Union 1917-1941. Mr Dallimore provided the historical context for Stalin’s time in power and focussed on his economic, political and social/cultural transformation of the USSR in the 1930s. An expert in the field, who has travelled to the region and written and lectured on the topic to many audiences, he gave a comprehensive outline of the changes that Stalin made in this significant period in modern history.

The students responded very positively to the presentation which gave clarity to a complex topic in the syllabus. We thank Mr Dallimore for his excellent lecture and commend the students on their focus and response to this.
