Secondary News

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have passed the half way mark of Term 3 and it is a time to reflect on what has been a very busy and productive term so far.  There have been many exciting educational programs, events, excursions and celebrations within our school community in the last 6 weeks that have keep our staff and students very busy and fulfilled.

Our Senior School formal was a fantastic event enjoyed by staff and students alike. This year we danced away to the theme Under the Stars, at the Cranbourne Golf Club! We thank our Senior Homeroom coordinator, Ms Michelle Roberts and the wonderful members of the PTFA for making this event possible for our Year 11 and 12’s. Please refer to the article outlining the highlights of this event further in the newsletter.

We are proud of our Year 8, 9 and 10 Boys and Girls Basketball teams who achieved much success at the recent Interschool Cardinia Division competition, with our Year 8 Girls team advancing through to the Regional finals later this term.

We congratulate the staff and students who participated in the musical Production Showcase ‘The Book of Destiny’ who performed on Thursday evening at the Cardinia Cultural Centre.  The show was a hit, and we are so proud of the talent we have within our student community.  The College extends a heart felt thanks to Mr John Glover and his team who organised and coordinated this event, conducted endless rehearsals and preparations which all contributed to the wonderful success of the evening.

In our book week celebrations this week, we have enjoyed the discussions in our classrooms about this years theme “Reading is Magic’.  We have enjoyed having incursions throughout the week with authors coming into the school to speak to students and we have had a wonderful day today celebrating with our College bookweek parade. It was wonderful to see so many students dress up in their favourite bookweek characters, and celebrate with their peers.  Thank you to all the amazing parents, guardians and friends who came along to support their child.

There are still a few weeks to go in Term 3, and many more exciting events to look forward to as outlined below in our Key dates.

Senior Formal 2024

On Friday, the 9th of August, the Year 11 and 12 students celebrated their Formal at the Cranbourne Golf Club. Our PTFA did an amazing job decorating the venue for the theme ‘Under the Stars,’ featuring a beautiful entry adorned with delicate ribbons and balloons, a glittering carpet, and a stunning dance floor with thousands of sparkling lights. The students enjoyed a delicious meal and had a wonderful time creating both formal and funny images in the photo booth when they weren't dancing to a terrific set by our awesome DJ! A tradition of this evening is the recognition of students with awards, voted on the night by the attendees:

Formal Queen: Mohadesa A

Formal King: Hamish B

Best in a Dress: Grace K

Well Suited: Ding D

Outfit of the Night: Pauleen R

Best Hair: Cyann F

Best Shoes: Madeleine C

Best Dancer: Tiana D

Our PTFA worked very hard to prepare a special evening for our students, right down to the beautiful sugar cookie mementos they presented to each student as they left the event!

Special thanks to Morwenna Harder and Bronwyn Thomas for their amazing work in creating a memorable evening for our senior students.
