Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

THE CLASS OF 2026
It is remarkable to think that we are already nearing the end of Term 4, 2026 and that our Year 12 students are participating in their farewell assembly tomorrow. The Class of 2026 has been an exceptional group of ambassadors for our College and we are deeply grateful for their numerous contributions to our community. We keep the Year 12 cohort in our prayers over the coming weeks as those in our Vocational Major stream prepare for next year’s transition into employment, further study or apprenticeships, while our VCE students undertake intensive preparation for their final examinations.
Nazareth College has a longstanding tradition of celebrating the final days of our Year 12 students in an appropriate and respectful manner. We have designed a program that allows students to gather and celebrate with one another, as well as with their families, friends and staff. We have spoken to our students about the College’s expectations, and we invite parents, carers and guardians to discuss the importance of respectful and appropriate behaviour with their children ahead of these final school days and the upcoming Year 12 end of year events. A summary of these key arrangements is provided below and we invite you to refer to the original correspondence or contact the College should you require additional information:
Year 12 Farewell Assembly: Friday 16 October at 2:00pm at the College – Families welcome
Year 12 Dress up Breakfast: Monday 19 October at 8:15am-10:30am at the College
Year 12 Graduation Mass: Tuesday 20 October at 5:30pm at St Patrick’s Cathedral
Year 12 Valedictory Dinner: Tuesday 20 October at 7:00pm at the MCG
We look forward to celebrating with you.
CHILD SAFETY
With the new Marian Centre now operational, the College is delighted to unveil our new Wellbeing Centre. This facility provides an outstanding environment and students have already begun utilising the exceptional new facilities. As a further step in enhancing our child safety processes, the College has appointed Ms Merryn Molloy to work full time in this centre alongside our Director of Student Wellbeing, Ms Jackie Kol. Consequently, the centre will remain staffed throughout the school day. Furthermore, as the College counsellors are located on the same level of the Marian Centre, our students have direct access to a wealth of qualified, experienced and skilled staff to support their diverse wellbeing needs.
Regarding physical safety in the vicinity of the College, we remind families to exercise extreme caution in our college car park. We also encourage parents, carers and guardians to collect their children from a designated safe spot near the College campus to avoid the traffic congestion associated with coming into the school grounds.
TERM 4
Whilst the academic year always passes very quickly, Term 4 is particularly condensed, featuring early examinations, followed by the final two weeks of the FastStart program for the current Year 10 and Year 11 students. The timeline for revision, assignment deadlines and exams is approaching very quickly in this term. The assessment schedule begins with Year 11 examinations on 5 November, followed by Year 10 on 6 November and Year 9 on 17 November.
We encourage all students to maximise their time in class now, striving to work to the best of their abilities while remaining organised and working consistently at home to meet all academic deadlines and adequately prepare for assessments. We encourage students and parents, carers and guardians to contact subject teachers, if they have any questions or concerns regarding their child’s progress. As always, we encourage contact with your child’s Pastoral Teacher should there be any concerns or things worth sharing, so that we can all work together to assist your child best.
We wish all our students a great Term 4 and growth and development in their faith, wisdom and knowledge.
God Bless
Mr Justin Duckett
