Reflection

Farewell Year 12
As our Year 12 students enter their final week of classes, we pause as a community to reflect on the journey that has brought them to this significant moment. Years of learning, friendships, challenges, growth, and faith have shaped them into the young adults they are today. While there may be excitement about what lies ahead, there is also great value in taking time to look back with grateful hearts.
Gratitude is at the heart of our Catholic tradition. We give thanks to God for the many blessings received throughout the years: the teachers who have inspired and guided, the families who have offered constant love and support, the friends who have shared laughter and encouragement, and the countless opportunities that have helped our students discover their gifts.
In St Paul’s Letter to the Thessalonians, we are reminded to “give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Gratitude is not simply about acknowledging the good times; it is about recognising God’s presence in every experience, including the challenges that have taught resilience, courage and perseverance.
As our Year 12 students prepare for examinations and the transition beyond school, we encourage them to carry this spirit of gratitude with them. A grateful heart helps us recognise the goodness in others, remain hopeful during uncertainty, and appreciate the many ways God continues to work in our lives.
We pray that our graduating students will approach the future with confidence, knowing they are loved by God and supported by a community that believes in them. May they remember the words of Jeremiah: “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
May this final week of classes be a time of reflection, celebration and heartfelt thanksgiving for all that has been and all that is yet to come.
