First Nations Peoples: Living Justice

We are pleased to share with you the new Statement from the Trustees of Kildare Ministries - First Nations Peoples: Living Justice.

Grounded in our Living Justice Living Peace Charter, the Statement reaffirms our commitment to walking in solidarity with First Nations peoples and calls us to continue building communities where every person is respected, every culture is honoured and every voice is heard. It affirms the inherent dignity of First Nations peoples, embraces the invitation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and encourages each of our ministries to deepen relationships through listening, partnership, truth-telling and action.

This Statement has been developed through a process of listening and dialogue. We extend our sincere thanks to our First Nations Network, led by Jane Collopy, and to Principals and Community Works Leaders for your thoughtful feedback, insights and wisdom. These contributions, which included the voices of our very own Aunty Donna and Aunty Vicki, have strengthened the Statement and helped ensure that it reflects both our mission and our aspiration to walk respectfully alongside First Nations peoples.

The Statement is intended not simply as an expression of our shared commitment, but as an invitation for each ministry to reflect on what this means within its own context. We encourage you to share the Statement with your Board, Stewardship Council, staff, and community, and to consider together the practical actions that can continue to strengthen relationships with First Nations peoples and advance reconciliation within your ministry.
