Funding Proposals

The John XXIII College Parents' Association have funds available for proposals that meet the objectives of the Parents’ Association by promoting social interaction or providing material assistance to the College. Successful proposals must show they either benefit students in all years or, if only specific years, then support previously neglected years to maintain a balance of benefit across the College. Proposals can be submitted by parents or staff (with a parent sponsor).

We are always interested to hear from our Community on any other ideas they may have for how we can positively contribute to the students’ learning and school experience. If you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us

The Funding Proposal form can be found here.

Proposals must be submitted by 5pm on Friday of Week 2 to qualify for consideration at the upcoming Term meeting.

An Evening with Dr Justin Coulson

On Tuesday 9 June, more than 200 members of our community gathered for a special evening with one of Australia's most respected parenting experts, Dr Justin Coulson.

The event was hosted as part of Inspire, the College's parent education program, and presented in partnership with Parenting Connection WA and Ngala. Under the theme Parental Guidance: Positive Solutions for Every Family, the evening welcomed John XXIII College families alongside parents and carers from across the wider community.

Dr Coulson, co-host of Channel Nine's Parental Guidance, co-host of The Happy Families Podcast, and author of 11 books, delivered a warm, engaging presentation that challenged some conventional parenting wisdom and offered practical, science-backed strategies for supporting children's growth and wellbeing. His focus on connection, communication, and showing up for our kids struck a chord with everyone in the room.

A sincere thank you to the Inspire Committee for organising such a meaningful evening.

Boys: Building Strong Young Men From the Inside Out - Webinar

Wednesday 17 June, 7pm AEST

You are invited to register to hear Dr Justin Coulson’s latest research on how best to support your sons in the modern world. As a Happy Families school John XXIII can attend this online event for free.

He’s disappearing. Behind the closed door, lost in screens, making choices that keep you up at night. He’s navigating a world designed to confuse him – algorithms designed to addict him – a world parents don’t understand and can’t break into. The headlines scream crisis. They warn us that boys are in deep trouble… and it’s getting worse.

But it doesn’t have to be like this.

Dr Justin Coulson has a different story to tell. In Boys, Coulson reveals what decades of research suggests: when boys get what they actually need, they thrive. Not through force or fixing, but through connection, meaningful challenge, and someone who refuses to give up on them.

This presentation hands you the ‘Playbook’. It cuts through the noise with practical, research-backed strategies for the battles you’re fighting right now.

Equality, Reconciliation and Social Cohesion: the inspiration of Sir William Deane - Edited by Fr Frank Brennan SJ

Join us for an evening of reflection and conversation as Fr Frank Brennan SJ launches this important new collection of Sir William Deane’s key speeches as Governor-General of Australia.

At a moment when our nation is engaged in profound soul-searching about equality, reconciliation and social cohesion, this book offers timely and essential insights. Sir William Deane was an outstanding jurist and a compassionate leader who championed a fair go for all Australians, especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

Sir William and Lady Helen Deane became the nation’s first couple of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
