Eclipse House News

As Term Three ends, it is the beginning of the final chapter for our Year Twelve Eclipse boarders. The next phase is for celebrating their hard work and supporting them as they make the transition through exams or assessments and out of boarding for the final time.

There are moments of ‘lasts’ for this cohort. The last flexi-meal, cooked breakfast or after school beach run. These lasts are moments that we celebrate and adore because they have made up a boarder’s life for many years. These ‘lasts’ have always created moments of connection and positive conversation. They have been the foundations for the development of positive relationships between peers and staff.

Last week, Breaksea and Eclipse Year Twelves shared a special evening across both houses for their farewell dinner. It was a wonderful evening that provided both senior houses an evening to celebrate their journey together.

In the last Boarding Buzz, I mentioned the concept of pride. I asked the boys in Eclipse ‘what they were proud of?’. Many of them stated they are proud of their family, academic achievements or friendships. Something that was not mentioned but came through in their actions was their sporting success. Over the last two weeks we have had several Hockey and AFL grand finals. The pride that was demonstrated in the lead up to these games was evident. The pride that was on show after coming away with a win was hard to miss. Some boys displayed their pride with medals still around their necks in the days that followed - some even making it an accessory for the school day. This sense of pride is culturally a powerful mover and worth celebrating. Congratulations to Kaleb Germain, Michael Watson, Steven Wiech, Koby Hams, Kayde Bessell-Browne, Eden Bairstow, Lucas Smart and Ollie Murphy on their success.

As we move into Spring, we have had several days with blue skies and light winds. This has allowed for some mid-week recreation down to Nanarup. In the last couple of weeks, we have also been sharing a weekly fire. Special mention to Ollie Murphy and Lucas Smart for their initiative. We are looking forward to Term Four and weekend adventures.

I wish all families an enjoyable time together over the next two weeks. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions or concerns.
