Anchorage House News

As we near the end of another fantastic term, I’m excited to share the vibrant energy and wonderful experiences that have filled our days in Anchorage House, especially for our Year Seven to Nine boarders. It has been a term action packed with activities, growth, and a sense of camaraderie that truly defines life in our house.

The Famous Boarders Cup AFL Football Game

One of the undeniable highlights this week was the Boarders Cup AFL Football Game. The excitement and passion around this event were contagious, with our Year Seven to Nine boarders pouring their hearts into both the game and the preparation leading up to it. Whether they were on the field or running water from the sidelines, the teamwork and spirit displayed by our students was gutsy and passionate. Though the competition became one sided on the score board, it was the sense of sportsmanship that truly made the afternoon memorable. Mr Mackay and I were proud of all the boarders who gave it their all, and they should be proud of their contributions to the game. Well done Ongerup for taking out the win and trophy!

Sports Wind-Ups & Physical Activity

Our boys have been incredibly active throughout the term, participating in various sports ranging from soccer, football, hockey and volleyball that have developed their skills and fitness.  As the term comes to an end, the boys have all had their windups and presentations. A big shout out to Nicholas Hams for his Best and Fairest award and Billy Hams for the Coaches award. This term has provided an opportunity to celebrate individual team spirit but most importantly, enjoy the fun of being active together.

Finishing the Term Well

As the term draws to a close, we are focusing on finishing strong. With assessments and final projects wrapping up, our boys have been encouraged to balance their studies with relaxation and social time. Staff have been working closely with the students to ensure they feel supported academically and emotionally, helping them navigate the challenges of the term’s end with confidence and a positive mindset.

Building Relationships & Thriving in Residential Life

One of the key aspects of boarding life is relationship-building, and this term, we’ve seen incredible growth in how our Year Seven to Nine boarders have developed their interpersonal skills. Living in a close-knit community requires compromise, communication, and empathy, and it's been wonderful to see how our students are developing in this environment. They are learning the importance of respect, trust, support, and mateship in residential living. Whether through shared meals, house meetings, or simply spending time together in the common areas, our students have formed meaningful connections that will undoubtedly continue to grow.

As always, the well-being of our boarders is our top priority. We are continuously working to create an environment where they feel at home, safe, and empowered to be their best selves. We are proud of how well they have adapted to the rhythms of boarding life and how they support one another in this journey.

Looking Ahead

As we look forward to the next term, we are excited to build on the positive energy we’ve cultivated. From continued involvement in sports and recreational activities to fostering even stronger relationships, there’s so much more to look forward to. We thank you for your continued support in making Anchorage House a special place for your boy to grow and thrive.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable break!
