Warburton East Juniors

Place Value Power!
Peer teaching moments are collaborative, often spontaneous interactions where students instruct, guide and provide feedback. This term we are focussing our attention on learning new skills with sustained confidence, enhanced engagement and real-time feedback from positive role models — and we have exceptional role models in our Warburton East Junior classroom!
Our Grade 1 and Grade 2 students have used their knowledge of place value and pattern sequencing to extend themselves beyond determining which number is 1 more, 1 less, and 10 more and 10 less — to the hundreds and thousands. Students delved deep into their prior knowledge as the task became more challenging. They were able to clearly identify which column to change by simply adjusting the digit based on place value.
We celebrate wins of any size in our classroom and boy, this was quite a large celebration!
