New Faces at Nazareth

Hello!

My name is Jake Charman and I am excited to be joining the Nazareth College community.

This will be my fifth-year teaching and I cannot wait to contribute to the College in all its facets. I specialise in teaching English and Humanities but love being involved with Debating, Public Speaking, and any SIS sport.

In my free time I enjoy going to watch Collingwood play at the 'G, smashing a gym sesh out, dancing at the many different genres of music events I can get to, and lastly but most importantly hanging out with family and friends.

The Naz community has already been so welcoming, I am keen to get to know everyone.

My name is Imogen van Rensburg and I am incredibly excited to be joining the Nazareth community in 2026. I have spent the last four years in Sydney where I graduated from Campion College with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in 2024, and work as a Youth Officer for the Archdiocese of Sydney in 2025. I am now so grateful to be back in Melbourne, continuing to work within the education system, with students of all years, to assist them in achieving their goals. In my spare time I enjoy playing guitar, keeping active outdoors sport, and baking!

I have been warmly welcomed by the amazing staff and am looking forward to continuing to get to know the students throughout this year!

I came to Nazareth College after 12 years of teaching VCE Physics, Maths and Science at a small faith-based school. Nazareth attracted me with its religious values and traditions, and dedication to providing quality education to young people. I have a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering/Naval Architecture, 15 years in the industry plus 24 years in teaching. I taught in New Zealand and Australia (for the last 20 yrs). I major in Mathematics and minor in Physics with Science.

My name is Jack Smedile and I’m a Learning Support Officer at Nazareth College while studying social work at Deakin University. As a former VM/VCAL student (Class of 2020),

I understand that discovering different learning pathways can be overwhelming and I want to use that experience to better support and connect with our students. I enjoy creating a supportive, practical learning environment and being part of the school community, and to once again be a Nazarene.

My name is Carlo David, and I am grateful to begin my journey this year with the Nazareth College community as a Religious Education and Humanities teacher.

Since the start of Term One, I have had the privilege of meeting our warm and supportive staff, as well as students whose enthusiasm for learning and willingness to embrace new challenges continue to strengthen my passion for teaching.

My professional background is in Parish and Diocesan Faith Formation and Evangelization. I have served in a range of ministry contexts, including youth ministry, adult formation, and university chaplaincy, promoting the conviction that the Catholic Church offers the world what is true, good, and beautiful.

I have joined the fabulous Learning Support Team this year and am so excited to now be a member of this lovely school community at Nazareth College.

I am most looking forward to getting to know all of our staff, students and their families and to supporting you all each day.

I also have a love for learning, and my favourite subjects are English, Humanities, Art and anything to do with dance and drama!

In my spare time I love to walk my gorgeous dog, Poppy, spend precious time with my friends and family and go to the beach, live shows and on little adventures like swimming with the seals!

Thank you very much to all for the kind and warm welcome to Nazareth College!
