A message from Mr Renshaw

NAPLAN Online - BYOD reminder for Year 3 and Year 5
A reminder that NAPLAN Online will be held from Wednesday 11 March to Monday 23 March 2026 for students in Year 3 and Year 5.
Students will use their own BYOD iPad for the assessments and are asked to bring the following to school each day during the testing window:
- a fully charged iPad
- headphones, earphones or AirPods
- the NAP Locked Down Browser installed on the device
Please note that the school will not be supplying headphones. We also ask that students do not bring an iPad mini if possible. If a student does not have a suitable iPad, a school device will be provided.
Please contact your child’s class teacher if you have any questions.
School Car Parks - Safety reminder
To support the safety of all students and families, parents and carers are reminded that the school car parks are not to be used before or after school, including driving into or walking through the car parks (with or without children).
The car parks are reserved for staff and authorised users only.
If a parent/carer enters a school car park at these times:
- Vehicles will be asked to move and use public parking.
Pedestrians will be asked to leave the car park area and use the designated pedestrian gates and pathways.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school community safe.
Hurstville Public School – 150 Year Celebrations (1876–2026)
In 2026, Hurstville Public School will celebrate 150 years. Planning is underway for a year of community events and legacy projects that recognise our history and strengthen connections across past and present students, families and staff.
If you are a past student, past staff member, or part of a current or former HPS family and would like to be involved - or if you have stories, photos, memorabilia or artefacts to share - we would love to hear from you.
Please email the school via the office (or contact Mr Renshaw) to express interest and we’ll be in touch with next steps and opportunities to contribute.
Toyota Dream Car Competition
We are excited to share some wonderful news from the 2025 Toyota Dream Car Competition.
One of our students, Yinuo, was selected by Toyota as one of the five top Early Bird winners from the first month of the 2025 Toyota Dream Car Competition. As part of this achievement, Yinuo was awarded a $100 VISA Gift Card.
This is a fantastic accomplishment and a wonderful reflection of Yinuo’s creativity and imagination. We are very proud of this outstanding result. Congratulations to Yinuo on this exciting achievement, and thank you to all students, staff and families who continue to support opportunities like this. Please see her artwork below.
Digital learning platforms in 2026
This year, Hurstville Public School will use Seesaw as the learning platform for students in Kindergarten – Year 2 and Support Unit only. Students in Years 3–6 will engage in learning through Microsoft Teams. This means families who may have previously relied on Seesaw for notices and updates from the school will no longer receive them in Years 3-6.
Parent notifications will continue to be shared through School eNews and the School Belltower Newsletter. Please ensure you are registered to School eNews so you don’t miss important updates.
School Uniform – Hats and Shoes
At Hurstville Public School, we ask for your support to ensure students are in full school uniform each day. Wearing uniform helps build a strong sense of belonging, keeps students safe and shows pride in our school.
Hats
- Students are required to wear the Hurstville school hat (blue cap or blue bucket hat with logo, or Year 6 black cap) whenever they are outdoors.
- Our “No hat – play in the shade” rule applies at all times.
Branded or patterned hats that are not part of the school uniform should not be worn.
Shoes
- Students should wear black, closed-in school shoes each day (except sport days).
- On sport days, students may wear white or black joggers as part of the sports uniform.
Coloured or fluoro sneakers are not part of our school uniform.
If you are unsure about any aspect of the uniform or need assistance to purchase items, please contact the school office – we are here to help.
