News from Year 5/6

Term 4
We have a busy term ahead! Swimming, orienteering, Graduation, assessment, fun day, leadership speeches... We are looking forward to a productive and enjoyable end to 2026! It is really important that everyone works together to make it the best possible time and the 5/6s continue to be great role models for the rest of the school.
Class novel: Waves
We will be studying Waves by Donna Rawlins this term. Waves is a narrative nonfiction book about the waves of migration to the shores of Australia. The 5/6s will be studying the themes and vocabulary found in the text.

I'm very excited to go to Year 7 in 2027, but I'm also very excited for all the fun things we will do at the end of the year, like graduation, the mystery tour, and the Year 6 vs. teachers game. It's gonna be such a good last term with all the fun things we are going to do. My goals are to get better at my sports and make more friends before and during high school, and I'm already making new friends. We are all excited to beat the teachers in the game. Graduation is going to be so fun with all the boys.

As a year six, this term I’m looking forward to the teacher-senior students bombardment battle on the last day of school. I can’t wait for the mystery tour at the end of the year either. I’m kind of excited for high school too, although I’m not going there with a lot of people. MLMC (Mount Lilydale Mercy College) has heaps of people there for me to make new friends. For goals this year, I would like to just clean up my grey areas in a few subjects.

I am looking forward to finishing school and graduating at the end of the year, and I am also excited about the excursion at the end of the year. It's going to be fun, and we have orienteering in two weeks for sport, and we also have swimming, it’s ok but other people also like it too in two weeks.

My goal this term before I go to high school is to tell time better and to work on my times tables. I am excited for the last week of term because we just play games and pack up most of the time. I am also excited for the step up day to go to high school. I’m looking forward to going to high school because we will see our friends from last year.

I'm excited for the end of term 4 because all the year 5s get year six jackets. And get what leader they want to be. I really want to be ict leader because I set up a lot with the current one so I know how to set up the projector and stuff. And I think it's fun. Also something I'm excited for in term 4 is orienteering in about a week.

Some of the goals I want to complete in Term 4 in school are sports because I'm not much of a sports fan, and my goal for that is to overcome my fear of doing sports I'm scared of. Outside of school, my goal is to overcome my fear of just socialising in general.
For term 4 i am very excited for graduation because of the activities the year 6s will do and im also excited about the school disco because i LOVEEEEEE dancing especially kpop for example stray kids, enhypen, illit and hearts2hearts.
Some questions I have about next year is: are we allowed to bring phones to school in Upper Yarra? And will the Year 7s be separated from the older kids?
