Harmony with H2O
Welcome back! This term, our students will learn about Earth's natural resource- water and the importance of using it sustainably. They will conduct simple experiments related to the water cycle, desalination, and filtration. Students will explore the plastic pollution in our oceans and consider actions they can take to reduce their use of single-use plastics. They will investigate the importance of rainforests and the unique animals that call the Amazon rainforest home. At the end of the term, we hope to create three-dimensional models of the water cycle to share with families.
Things to bring in:
1 shoe box (or similar size) to make the 3D model of the water cycle
Maths
This week, we have been tackling the sticky problem of division. Students have used base 10 blocks to represent 2 and 3 digit numbers and shared them equally to divide the numbers. Next week we will learning about location and mapping.
Class Novel
Our new class novel, Storm Boy, may be familiar with some of our parents, as it was written in 1964. We have only just started, but have already added 3 new words to our vocabularies - shrieked, seldom and mysteriously.
Coming Up
Time to check if your bathers from last summer still fit! Swimming starts on the 19th of October. We also have Orienteering at the Maroondah dam coming up soon. Please make sure that permissions have been entered on nForma.
