News from One/Two

Welcome Back!

I hope you have all had a wonderful break and are ready for our last term.

It has been so nice having everyone back together this week. The children have settled back in really well, and it has been great hearing all about their holidays and getting back into our usual routines.

We have lots of fun, learning, and exciting things planned for the term ahead, and we can’t wait to see what the final few months bring. We’re looking forward to a wonderful term together!

Maths - Fluency & Fractions

This week we have been practicing our 'doubles' (x2), and 'doubles, doubles' (x4) for our fluency program. We are becoming more confident and building our multiplication skills each day!

We have also started exploring fractions. So far, we have been learning to identify wholes, halves, quarters, and eighths, and we have been finding fractions in different ways.

Real vs Imagined Writing

This week, we have been reading fiction and non-fiction stories to identify the differences in real vs imagined writing. We then began trialing this ourselves with some fun sentence writing practice!

This Term in Inquiry, we are planning on doing a lot of learning about the town of Yarra Junction and about people of a different generation. We are planning on having a Scavenger Hunt excursion and a walk down to Yarra Junction, including visiting the Yarra Junction Museum. We would love to invite parents and carers to join us for the walk and fun day, including a shared lunch at the park to end the day. If you think you would be interested in joining us, it would be great if you could complete the Parent Helper Course and have a current WWCC. Once you have completed these things, you are eligible to help out at school events and on excursions.

Please find below a link to the Parent Helpers Course:

Please review the material contained in the presentation, follow the link on the last page, and work through the 16-question quiz carefully, referring back to the presentation as needed before answering.  You will require 100% correct answers, so consider your answers carefully.  In the event of errors, you can repeat the quiz.

Thanks,

Tilly
