How the 2025 Year 6 Legacy Piece Concept was Created

This year’s Year 6 Legacy piece began with conversations about our new 2025 school values: Respect, Perseverance, and Collaboration. As the Arts Captains explored ways to represent these values creatively, they kept coming back to the idea of the number three.

Across many cultures, the number three is seen as a symbol of luck, creativity, and new beginnings. In Chinese culture, the number three is considered lucky because it sounds similar to the word for “life.” In other traditions, it appears in sayings like “third time’s the charm,” and is linked with positive energy through feng shui and numerology.

The students also drew inspiration from elephants, which are widely viewed as symbols of good fortune, wisdom, and strength. In places such as India and China, elephant imagery is used to bring prosperity and help remove obstacles.

Bringing these ideas together, the 2025 Year 6 students have proudly begun calling themselves “the lucky ones.” Their Legacy piece reflects this theme, celebrating both their journey and the values they leave behind for our school community.
