Respectful Relationship News

Respectful Relationships at Mill Park Heights P.S

This year, our students have continued to engage in the Respectful Relationships program as part of our weekly teaching and learning. Respectful Relationships is an important initiative that supports children to build positive, healthy and safe relationships. It helps students develop emotional literacy, resilience, problem-solving skills and an understanding of fairness and inclusion—skills that strengthen both their wellbeing and their learning.

Across all year levels, students have participated in one lesson each week and have explored Topics 1–6 throughout the year. These topics include:

  • Emotional Literacy – recognising and expressing emotions.
  • Personal Strengths – identifying what makes us unique and capable.
  • Positive Coping – learning strategies for managing challenges.
  • Problem-Solving – working through issues respectfully and confidently.
  • Stress Management – understanding how our bodies and minds react to stress.
  • Help-Seeking – knowing when and how to ask for support.

By teaching these concepts explicitly, we aim to empower students to navigate social situations thoughtfully and with empathy. We are proud of the way our students continue to grow in their ability to communicate respectfully, work collaboratively and contribute to a positive school culture.

The Respectful Relationships program remains a vital part of our commitment to student wellbeing and a safe, supportive learning environment for all.

Term 4 has been spent on revisiting topics taught throughout the year and reminding students of strategies they can use to support them.
