Principal's Message

Welcome back to our MPHPS Newsletter
As we near the end of November this term is closing in fast. I have no doubt many of you are starting to prepare for the Christmas break and may already have items on your 2026 calendar. We are certainly doing the same here and are very excited to be celebrating the many achievements in 2025 while still planning ahead.
Learning & Wellbeing
- Reporting is in full force and staff are finalising student outcome growth against earlier goals and class targets. I commend the staff on working so hard to create differentiated programs to support student learning at their point of need.
- 2026 Class organisation is currently underway. Students had the options to nominate up to five friends and are guaranteed to get at least one friend in their 2026 class. There is no pressure placed on students to select their choices; however children do naturally change their friendship groups, and we ask parents and carers to be aware of this as the new year begins. We do keep a record of student choices for this reason. Please note, once classes are set and balanced, it is extremely rare that we would make a shift.
- Congratulations to the Year 3&4 Hoop Time teams and supporting coaches for their enthusiastic participation in this fantastic network basketball tournament. It was a fabulous day for everyone.
- Thank you to the many students and families who have so generously supported our Colour Run for 2025. While the event is still coming up, the fundraising element has now closed so that prizes can be ordered. These funds go back into programs that directly support your children.
Administration
- A special thank you to the Administration team for organising such a smooth book pack collection pick up. It was fabulous to also have the second-hand uniform on offer and the Food Bank donations with staples to add to community pantries. If any of you had missed this day, please contact the office to arrange an alternative collection date.
- A reminder to all families that we do not have staff on yard duty until 8.30am each morning. We have noticed a growing number of children being dropped off at or before, 8am who are unsupervised in the yard. Staff who arrive to work before 8.30am are planning and preparing for their classes and are not responsible for children who have been dropped off. This is also the case for the Administration team in the office. Please make a booking with Camp Australia if you require before or after school support.
- Don’t forget our student free Curriculum Day will be held on Thursday 4th December following our Colour Run on Wednesday 3rd December. The focus of this day is on planning for Term 1 with the new year level teams. This is also the day our new Foundation students will meet their teachers. A parent & carer information session will be held in the staff room during this time.
I urge you all to keep your eye out for activities and events that will be occurring over the last few weeks. This is a busy time as we near the end of term and we know that activities can be easily missed. A reminder that we do conclude at 12.45 on the final day, Friday 19th December, so if you need to book after school care, please contact Camp Australia soon.
Have a great fortnight
Chris
