From the Year 3 Classroom

Welcome to Year 3 2026! 

We’ve been absolutely loving getting to know the students. We cannot believe how much they’ve grown up since transition day. They’ve done an amazing job settling into their new learning spaces and the routine of being a Year 3 students. We bet you can’t believe that they are in Year 3 already!! 

We sent out an email earlier on in the week outlining our weekly timetable and especially highlighting when the students have specialists. This year, we have specialists on a Wednesday in which the students will be required to wear their sports uniform. We’re also very lucky to have a Performing Arts subject this year which will be on a Thursday with Miss Fountain.  

Each Friday, students will be participating in Blue Earth sessions. In these sessions we will focus on displaying positive sportsmanship and encouraging others. If students can, please wear sports uniform and runners on Fridays as well.  

On Tuesdays, we will have a 3-way weekly rotation where students will have the opportunity to exchange take home library books. Because these sessions are every 3 weeks, they can bring in their library book/bag early and Mrs Boyer is always happy to exchange books during the week. If this is the case, let your teacher know and they can arrange a time that suits.  

Next week you’ll notice a diary that will come home. In this diary, we ask students to record down the books that they are reading. The expectation is that they will read for 15 -minutes each day, which equates to 1 hour + of reading for the week. Diaries will be checked and marked every Friday; we ask that you sign their diaries to ensure they are practicing the skills of Reading. It's always a challenge getting back into routine, so taking turns reading page by page is a good place to start for any reluctant reader! 

We’ve had such a successful first week of swimming!! We have been blown away by their eagerness to jump in and learn new skills in the water. The students' organisational skills of their belongings have been outstanding – Well done Year 3’s!! 

We’ve started with a bang, and we can’t wait to continue to get to know the students.
