From the Year 5 Classroom

Welcome to Year 5! 

We are excited to begin this new academic year and look forward to working together to support your child’s learning and development. This year promises to be full of exciting challenges, new discoveries, and personal growth for each student. 

Our goal is to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment where your child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Throughout the year we hope to provide a great mix of core subjects, creative projects, and hands-on activities to inspire curiosity and a love for learning. 

Communication 

Communication between home and school is key to your child’s success. Throughout the year, we will keep you updated on important dates and events via the school newsletters, emails, and parent-teacher meetings. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Our email addresses and a parent/guardian information page will be sent home in the coming days. We encourage an open and collaborative partnership to ensure the best possible experience for your child. 

Reading Diaries 

Year 5 students are encouraged to read at home for a minimum of 80 minutes per week. This is to be recorded in their school diary. Diaries are used at school throughout the week, so we ask that rather than taking diaries home, children recorded their reading each morning as part of their daily set up. Diaries will be checked by class teachers each Friday. 

Specialist Classes 

This year, Year 5 students will participate in Specialist classes on Tuesday or Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  

Students may wear their PE uniform on Thursdays and Fridays. 

Learning Support Officer 

Our Year 5 Learning Support Officer is Katrina Carpenter who will be working with us from Monday to Thursday.

Thursday 19th February … School Swimming Carnival 

Thursday 5th March ... School Photo Day 

Monday 1st - Wednesday 3rd June … Year 5 Camp to Ballarat
