From the Year 1 Classroom

Welcome to Grade 1 – 2026! 

What a wonderful start we’ve had to the year! We are absolutely delighted to welcome you and your children to Grade 1, and we’ve already been so impressed by their independence each morning. They have been coming into the classroom happily, greeting their friends with big smiles, and showing such kindness in the way they look after one another. 

The children are doing an excellent job remembering their hats and drink bottles each day—thank you for your support with this. 

Over the next couple of weeks, we will begin sending home Take‑Home Readers. Before these go home, we’d like a little time to get to know each child as a reader and ensure we choose books that are just right for them. Thank you for your patience—this will all be underway very soon. 

You would have received a copy of our Grade 1 timetable, outlining what happens on each day of the week. We’ve also included it again here in the newsletter. 

We are so excited for the year ahead. It has been a fantastic start, and we can’t wait to continue building a warm, happy, and engaging learning environment for your children.
