Shrove Tuesday

Our 1/2 community spent a wonderful Tuesday afternoon coming together to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. It was a time for reflection as we learned about the significance of the day and how it prepares us for the season of Lent. To bring the tradition to life, we spent the afternoon making pancakes from scratch! The room was filled with excitement as students practiced their mixing and pouring skills. It was the perfect way to share a meal and transition into Lent as a 1/2 Cohort.

Sound Stories - Investigating Sounds

In our Inquiry sessions this term, we have been diving deep into "Sound Stories." This week, we stepped into the shoes of movie sound engineers to explore how everyday objects can create cinematic effects. The students had a blast experimenting with:

  • Plastic cups to mimic footsteps.

  • Foil and plastic bags to create the sound of rain or crackling fire.

  • Beads, sticks, and hand percussion to simulate rustling wings.

It was wonderful to see the students’ creativity as they transformed simple household items into a vivid soundscape!

The rhythmic fun didn’t stop there! Later in the week, we explored the vibrant sounds of maracas. The students had a wonderful time testing out the instruments in the classroom, learning about rhythm, and discovering how different shakes create different volumes.

To wrap up our musical week, we will be making Maracas tomorrow for our Inquiry lesson!

Reminders....

Please ensure all students have working headphones to use during class activities at school.

It would be great to have everyone bring along some brain food (fresh fruit or vegetables) to have at our 10 o'clock fruit time.

Water bottles are also important to make sure students stay hydrated throughout the day.
