Mr Will
This past week we had Shrove Tuesday, where students had a go at shaking and flipping pancakes. Whilst students were waiting for their turn, they had a number of tasks to go on with that included, a 'stack' of questions that asked what Lent is and why Shrove Tuesday is significant.

During inquiry we have continued to look at Australia's three levels of government, which include, local, state and federal. 5/6W students are becoming very familiar with some of the services and laws that each level are in control of enforcing. We are now moving onto starting our main showcase piece, which is a triorama, depicting the three levels of government and what services they offer.

In our Faith classes, we have started to explore peace and a social justice topic through the lens of what Jesus would do. Our class voted on immigration and new arrivals in Victoria and Australia. We are exploring this topic with links to our Fruits of the Holy Spirit and peace, which is also one of our Fruits. Depicted below is a task where students researched the what, the why, who is helping, who is affected and if dignity was harmed or upheld. Students really thought critically, with some explaining that peoples dignity can be harmed and that is why they might try to seek a better life, whilst also seeing how dignity is upheld through services that are offered to new arrivals in Victoria.

We have so many incredible things to look forward to in the Grade 5/6 space this term that I thought I would add them here each fortnight to help you keep track!
