Faith Matters at
St Francis Xavier School
Dear St Francis Xavier Families,
This week we moved into the liturgical season of Lent.
Lent is a special season in the Catholic Church that invites us to prepare our hearts for the joy of Easter. Over the next 40 days, we encourage our students to learn about prayer, kindness, and making thoughtful choices, just as Jesus did in the desert. Through simple acts like helping others, saying sorry, and spending quiet time with God, children discover how small sacrifices can help them grow in love and compassion. Lent reminds us that with God’s help, we can always try again and become the best versions of ourselves.
Each year during Lent our school chooses to support a charitable organisation and this year it is Project Compassion. This is the Caritas organisation's annual Lenten fundraising appeal, which aims to empower vulnerable communities worldwide, alleviate poverty, and uphold dignity. Funds are raised for sustainable, long-term development and humanitarian aid, focusing on education, health, and clean water.

Each class has been provided with a Project Compassion Donation Box for those who wish to make a contribution between now and the end of the term. If you would like more information about Caritas and Project Compassion please have a look at their website https://www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion/
Whole School Prayer
Last Friday morning we experienced our second Whole School Prayer which focused on gratitude. The next Whole School Prayer will be on Friday 27th February and we will be reflecting on the season of Lent.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge our school captains Helna, Joanah and William who are doing an outstanding job of leading the school through our prayer mornings.

Yours in faith,
Marion O'Brien
