EDUCATION

Year 9 & 10 Outdoor Education
In Years 9 and 10 Outdoor Education this term, students have taken part in outdoor activities such as Indoor Rock Climbing, High Ropes, Mountain Biking and Fishing while exploring different environments. They learned practical skills, built teamwork, and developed an understanding of ecosystems. The program helped students connect with nature, challenge themselves, and appreciate the importance of protecting the environment.
Art Academy
Earlier this term, our Art Academy students began an exciting collaboration project with local artist and illustrator Emily Wright.
Emily attended Art Academy and inspired students with her bold prints, detailed drawings and expert knowledge. Students had one to one guidance and began developing their own designs for a series of postcards that will seek to celebrate the local environment.
This week, Emily returned to celebrate the students’ printmaking progress and give more of her expert tuition and tips.
Emily set a coastal theme for students earlier in the term, whilst also demonstrating her techniques and process.
Students have since been working on their own interpretations of the theme, designing, drawing and carving their low relief lino cuts. Thi students began applying inks and using our print press to produce their final artworks.
Students will showcase and sell their work at Ashmore Arts in Torquay on the 2026 Surf Coast Art Trail (August 1-2) to raise funds for their chosen wildlife charity.
