Year 3
What a whirlwind Term 3 it’s been for our Year 3s! The kids have been non-stop, diving into the pool for swimming, tearing up the basketball court at Hoop Time and bringing plenty of spirit to Inter-School Athletics. Creativity was also in full swing as students channelled their inner musicians through original songwriting, got busy sewing with gorgeous Australian animal prints to prepare their pieces for the Art Show and embraced the magic of reading with costumes and storytelling during Book Week. Between tree planting outdoors and flexing their engineering logic in the LittleBits competition, their hands and minds were kept very busy!
In the classroom, our Units of Inquiry had everyone asking big questions about our world. Under Sharing the Planet, students explored how access to resources and opportunities shapes people's quality of life across the globe. Meanwhile, How the World Works had them digging into environmental changes, both sudden and gradual and what those shifts mean for our future. Putting those lessons into direct action, Year 4 is officially launching our Sustainability Superhero program! We’re kicking off a school wide can collection drive to raise funds for future green initiatives, with our very first goal being to cover the cost of our lovely new collection bins. Please save your clean aluminum cans at home and send them in with your child, every single can helps us build a greener school!
Year 4
It's been a busy term for Year 4. In week 8, we attended the Sustainability Festival for 2026. We proudly presented our project ‘Sustainable Scents’ to students and educators from lots of other schools. We talked all about herbs, what benefits they have on our health, how to identify them and most importantly, how they can be used to make a natural, scented spray. We learned about how other schools came up with sustainable initiatives and took part in some fun activities, such as decorating new homes for sugar gliders and making our own key rings from recycled bottle caps! The day finished off with a walk to St Kilda Botanical Gardens, where there were even more fun activities, such as identifying different frog sounds.
To finish off this term, we got to go to camp! We spent two nights away in Mt. Eliza. We participated in so many fun activities. Our favourites were definitely tree climbing and tree rolling, where we had to be real risk takers and communicators. We took part in fun leadership challenges, we found lots of crabs and sea snails by the beach and we even made our own pizzas. The food was a bonus too, sticky date pudding was a fan favourite. We had so much fun at camp and can’t wait to go again!
