Mid-Term Update

It has been a busy and exciting few weeks at The Gap State High School, with students and staff embracing a wide range of learning, cultural, community and co-curricular opportunities.

Our Year 10 students have been completing their Senior Education and Training (SET) Plans, an important link between students, parents and carers, and the school in planning options for their senior years. The SET Plan process provides an opportunity for students to consider their interests, strengths and aspirations and work with their families and teachers to make informed decisions about their future pathways.

We were delighted to welcome students and staff from Japan as part of our study tour program in recent weeks. These international connections provide wonderful opportunities for students to develop cultural understanding, build friendships and broaden their perspectives beyond our school community.

Science Week in Week 5 provided students with opportunities to engage with science through a range of activities and experiences, while House Week in Week 6 brought students together through activities designed to build school spirit, connection and healthy competition.

Our Interact Club has also been actively involved in the wider community, supporting Rotary EcoFest and demonstrating the importance of student leadership and community contribution.

We have also enjoyed a number of events celebrating creativity and the arts, including the Reelies Movie Night and the Tula Concert. These events showcase the diverse talents of our students and provide opportunities for our school community to come together and celebrate student achievement.

Our Year 12 Formal on 11 August was a wonderful opportunity for our senior students to celebrate their final year of school in style. It was a special evening for students to come together with their friends, enjoy each other's company and celebrate the many experiences and memories they have shared throughout their time at The Gap State High School.

It has been wonderful to see our students embracing the many opportunities available to them and demonstrating the enthusiasm, creativity, leadership and sense of community that make The Gap State High School such a great place to learn.

Coming Up

There is plenty happening across the school as we move into the second half of Term 3.

Book Week in Week 7 will provide students with opportunities to celebrate reading, literature and the joy of books through a range of activities across the school.

For our Year 11 students, Weeks 8 and 9 will be an important period of assessment, with the Year 11 exam block taking place. We encourage students to maintain a consistent study routine and make use of the support available to them as they prepare for their exams.

For our Year 12 students, the final weeks of their time at The Gap State High School are fast approaching. This is an important and exciting time as students complete their senior schooling, finalise assessment and prepare for their next steps beyond school. We look forward to celebrating their achievements and supporting them through this final stage of their school journey.

Student Free Day – Friday 4 September

Friday 4 September is a Student Free Day at The Gap State High School.

This day provides an important opportunity for our teachers and school staff to undertake professional learning focused on key priorities for our school. This learning will support our ongoing work to strengthen teaching and learning, student outcomes and the experience of all students across the school.

We appreciate the support of families in making arrangements for students on this day. Students will return to school as normal on Monday 7 September.

Keeping Our Car Parks Safe

A reminder to all families that school car parks are for staff and bona fide school visitors only. Parents and carers dropping off or collecting students are asked not to drop students off or park in school car parks unless they are attending the school as a visitor.

Our car parks are busy areas, particularly at the beginning and end of the school day. Limiting vehicle access helps us manage traffic safely and reduces the risk to students, staff and visitors moving around the school grounds.

Please take extra care when driving on roads around the school, follow all traffic and parking signage, and be particularly mindful of students walking near vehicles.
