Canberra Camp
The Year six students from St Margaret’s were lucky enough to recently undertake an education tour of the national capital, Canberra. The students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. They visited important sites such as the War Memorial, the High Court, Parliament House, Geoscience Australia, the Electoral Education Centre and the Australian Institute of Sport.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist in meeting the cost of the camp the Australian Government is contributing funding to St Margaret’s school in the amount of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the camp and this was taken into consideration when calculating the cost of camp.
District Swimming Carnival
On Friday 21 February we had 27 of our students compete at the Ascot Vale District Swimming Carnival. We are incredibly proud of the efforts of every student in the way they represented St Margaret's with pride. Special congratulations to Year 6 student Allegra for qualifying to move onto the next stage at Divisionals on the 11 March at Oak Park Sports and Aquatic Centre. We know you will represent our school well and we wish you the best of luck!
