End of Term 3
Country Bus Services
For students catching our Country Bus service, please note that there are no scheduled classes on Friday 18 September, with Parent-Teacher Interviews being held. The Country Bus services will operate on this day to support students attending the VCE English and Psychology Practice Exams.
The AM morning Country Bus service will run as usual on Friday 18 September. The final afternoon Country Bus service will depart at the earlier time of 1.45pm. If the 1.45pm service does not suit, please make alternative travel arrangement for student/s.
Country Bus services will return to their usual service timetable from Monday 5 October (Term 4).

National Science Week
National Science Week was a fantastic opportunity for students at Churchill Campus to step outside the traditional classroom and explore Science through a range of engaging lunchtime activities.
With this year’s theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All, students were encouraged to be curious, ask questions, test their ideas and discover the Science behind the world around them.
Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to take part in a variety of hands-on and interactive activities.
🥤Monday - Explosive Experiments
The week kicked off with some spectacular Science as students explored the famous Mentos and Coke reaction, as well as Elephant's Toothpaste.
Students witnessed the dramatic reactions firsthand while learning about the Science behind them. The Mentos and Coke experiment demonstrated how the rough surface of the Mentos provides tiny sites where dissolved carbon dioxide can rapidly escape from the soft drink, creating a spectacular geyser.
Elephant's Toothpaste demonstrated catalysis and the rapid breakdown of hydrogen peroxide. With the help of a catalyst, hydrogen peroxide breaks down much more quickly, producing oxygen that becomes trapped in the soapy solution and creates a huge column of foam.
❤️ Tuesday - Exploring the Human Heart
Students then had the opportunity to take part in a heart dissection, providing a fascinating insight into human anatomy.
The practical activity allowed students to see the structure of a heart up close and explore how its different parts work together to circulate blood throughout the body.
🌱 Wednesday - Guess the Seed
Students put their observation skills and botanical knowledge to the test with Guess the Seed. By examining different seeds and considering their characteristics, students worked to identify where they came from and what plants they could grow into. It was a great reminder that even something as small as a seed can lead to something much bigger.
🌏 Thursday - Discovering Our Natural World
Students also had the opportunity to enjoy a David Attenborough documentary, exploring the incredible diversity of life and the natural world.
The documentary provided students with an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom and consider the many fascinating environments, species and ecosystems that make up our planet.
🥚 Tuesday - The Egg Drop Challenge
The week ended the following Tuesday with the Egg Drop Challenge, where students put their creativity, problem-solving, and engineering skills to the test.
Working within the challenge parameters, students designed ways to protect an egg from the impact of a drop. The activity encouraged students to apply scientific thinking, test their ideas and learn from the results.
From chemical reactions and human anatomy to plants, wildlife and engineering challenges, National Science Week at Churchill Campus demonstrated that Science is everywhere.
A huge thank you to our Science teachers and Lab Technicians for creating these engaging opportunities and helping our students discover the excitement of Science.
KAAP
Kurnai Aspiring Athletes Program
AFL Excursion
On the 6th of August, the KAAP students from across both the Morwell and Churchill campuses enjoyed an exciting day out at Marvel Stadium watching the Western Bulldogs take on North Melbourne!
It was a fantastic opportunity for our aspiring athletes to experience the atmosphere of a live AFL match, enjoy some great football and share the experience with their fellow KAAP students.
A huge thank you to the Western Bulldogs for their ongoing partnership and generous ticket allocation. Opportunities like these create unforgettable experiences for our students and provide valuable opportunities to connect with the sporting community.
