Safer Speed Limits

We have been advised by Western Projects, Department of Transport that new speed limits to key locations across Ballarat will be implemented from Monday 30th June.

Sturt Street, Alfredton - reducing the speed from 70km/h to 60km/h on a 2.4 kilometre section of Sturt Street, from Pleasant Street to Learmonth Street.

Victoria Street, Ballarat East - reducing the speed from 70km/h to 60km/h on a 2.4 kilometre section from Fussell Street to Humffray Street.

Main Road, Ballarat - reducing the speed from 60km/h to 50km/h on a one kilometre section of Main Road from Humffray Street to Bradshaw Street.

Barkly Street - reducing the speed from 60km/h and 40km/h to a consistent 50km/h on a 1.1 kilometre section of Barkly Street from Victoria Street to Grant Street.

Grant Street - reducing the speed from 60km/h to 50km/h on a 900-metre section of Grant Street between Barkly Street and Doveton Street (Midland Highway).

Why a safer speed?

The speed change is in response to a high number of enquiries from the community and the crash history on these sections of roads.

Please travel safely and look out for the new speed limits in these areas.
