Principal's Report

I cannot believe that this is only week 3 of term 4 as we have already done so much!!
Year 12’s
Last week was the final week of classes for our Year 12 students. The Senior school team had arranged several fun activities for the students that ran throughout the week.
The daily dress up themes were entertaining, and it was also lovely to see some of the staff get involved.
Valedictory Dinner: Wednesday 15 October
A highlight of the week was the valedictory dinner held at the Casa Da Abruzzo. The evening provided students, staff, parents and friends with an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the end of secondary education for the year 12 students.
Retreat: Thursday 16 October and Friday 17 October
The year 12 students attended an overnight retreat at the Yarra Plenty conference centre. During the day the students tackled the flying fox, and tube ride and enjoyed a leisurely hike up to a lookout whilst in the evening a robust game of trivia was followed up by karaoke until very late into the evening. The retreat was a wonderful way for the students to enjoy each other’s company one last time and to forge more lifelong memories.
Whole School Assembly: Friday 17 October
The final part of the year 12’s week was a whole school assembly which provided the school with an opportunity to formally farewell them. It was lovely to see so many parents and family members attend the assembly which helped add to the occasion. Ben Dal Maso’s (Year 12 student in 2024) speech directed to the Year 12 students about “Life after Macleod” was particularly well received. Thank you to Mr Griffiths, Ms Bodenham and students in the Music Academy for providing the music for the event and for setting up the sound system

Arts Gala: Tuesday 14 October
To add to an already huge week we had our annual Arts Gala on Tuesday 14 October. The Gala gave us an opportunity to showcase all of the amazing work that the students do in all of the Arts.
The evening began with an Art Show that ran from 3.30pm until 5pm. Student work was displayed in D block and entertainment was provided by the Macleod College Music Academy. Finger food was also provided by students in the Year 9 cooking class.
Then, from 5pm until 7pm the Macleod College Music Academy treated us all to a fantastic concert that involved all of the performing groups. The concert was of a particularly high standard and highlighted just how much work and how talented our music students are. Congratulations to everyone involved!!
