All other Primary School photos will be taken on a Thursday at Oxford Falls at a later date. Those photos will include both sport and other cocurricular photos. The date will be determined.

Could all students please bring their ID cards with them to all photos on Friday.

Ms Leisa Proc - General Coordinator

From the Assistant Principal, Cocurricular

Congratulations to our 5th XI Football team on being crowned ISA Premiers for 2026. This is a wonderful achievement and a fitting reward for their commitment, teamwork and determination throughout the season.

We also extend our congratulations to our 16A and 16B teams, who competed admirably in their respective grand finals. While the result did not go their way on the day, reaching a grand final is a significant accomplishment and reflects the hard work and dedication of the players and coaches throughout the season.  These results are added to the efforts of our 1st V Tennis team who finished runners-up as mentioned last week.

As our winter ISA competition draws to a close, I would like to sincerely thank all coaches, convenors and staff for their commitment and support over the course of the season. Their time, expertise and encouragement have provided students with valuable opportunities to develop their skills and represent the College with pride. I also extend my gratitude to the many parents, families and supporters who enthusiastically supported our teams throughout the season.

NSW State Band Championships

Congratulations also to our Intermediate and Senior Concert Bands, who participated in the State Band Championships in Penrith last Sunday. Competing against some of the state's finest school ensembles, our Senior Concert Band achieved an outstanding second-place finish, while our Intermediate Concert Band placed third in their divisions.

These exceptional results are a testament to the dedication, perseverance and countless hours of rehearsal invested by our student musicians. I also acknowledge and thank our talented Ensemble Directors, Ms Laura Power and Mr Geoff Power, whose leadership, expertise and unwavering support have played a significant role in these achievements.

We are incredibly proud of all students involved and congratulate them on representing the College with such distinction.

Cocurricular Colour Awards

Over the past few weeks at Assembly we have been recognising our students who have been awarded Blue cocurricular colour awards for the past 12 months. These students have displayed excellence, commitment, encouragement and service in their particular sport. We will conclude our Blue Awards next week, before we hold our Concourse Cocurricular Awards Ceremony on 8 September, where Silver and Gold Awards will be presented, along with the major cocurricular awards  for each activity.

The Concourse ceremony is a student-only affair but will be live-streamed - a link to follow in next week's Woodchatta.

Elite Pathway Preseason Training

Our new Elite Pathway Preseason Training Program, delivered in partnership with Asensi Elite Training (AET), commenced this week with excellent participation from our Year 7 and 8 players.

Unfortunately, due to insufficient registrations, we were unable to proceed with the Year 9 and 10 program. We are exploring other development opportunities throughout the season for our older players.

AET will continue to work closely with our coaches and teams during the ISA season, providing additional support and expertise across the program. We are also excited to announce that details of upcoming AET Holiday Camps at Oxford Falls will be released next week.

We look forward to continuing this exciting partnership and providing outstanding development opportunities for our basketball students.

ISA Basketball 2026/27 Registrations

Clipboard registrations

Thank you to the families who have already completed their registration for the upcoming ISA Basketball season. Your prompt response is greatly appreciated.

Registrations were due on Monday 24 August, and all team nominations have now been submitted to the ISA. While Clipboard will remain open until Friday 28 August, families are encouraged to register as soon as possible if their son intends to play.

There are still limited places available in the 17s and Opens divisions. Please note that late registrations may impact our ability to place students in an ISA team, as team allocations have already been finalised and submitted.

Important Information

  • Any Year 7 student who participated in the Term 1 Preseason Competition is not required to register for the upcoming season. All Year 7 students wishing to join are welcome.

  • SPX will aim to field A-F teams in each age group where numbers permit. If numbers remain low, we will reduce the numbers of teams entered to ISA.

  • In the 13s and 14s age groups, we also run internal development squads for players who are not selected in an ISA team.

13s–17s Grading Information

Please see the Basketball Grading Schedule below.

Please note that due to ongoing works in both the SPX Gym and at Oxford Falls, all grading times, dates and venues remain subject to change. Any amendments will be communicated promptly to students and families via the usual school communication channels.

Students are only eligible to attend grading sessions if they have completed their registration through Clipboard.

All grading updates and additional information will also be published on the Basketball section of the Canvas Cocurricular Page. Families are encouraged to monitor Canvas regularly throughout the grading period for the latest information.

Only players that have registered will be eligible to trial.

Please note that with only one court available at Oxford Falls, trials may feel a little slower that previous years.

Thank you to all players and families who supported Round 3 of the Sydney Junior Pennant. It was another strong showing from our teams, with great effort across all divisions and several closely contested matches that demonstrated the growth the students have had over the year.

At Thornleigh, Cameron Giang faced a quality opponent from Barker, with the result going his way. Cameron competed strongly in both matches to win in straight sets.  He showed composure against back-to-back opposition to take the overall win. What an effort!

Division 2 provided excellent viewing with both games going to epic 5 set matches. Liam Spatola and Lucas Tubman combined effectively. Mr Richie applauded the efforts of Liam who showed composure and consistency in his shot selection, while Lucas was involved in an impressive five-game battle.  Both showed grit in a hard-fought encounter.

At Elanora, SPX 6 had an outstanding battle against St Andrew's with Nick Belov having a strong game, taking it to the wire. While they didn’t get the overall win against Barker it was a tremendous effort.

SPX 8 blitzed the St Andrew's team with straight set wins by Princeton Wong and Joseph Wigan. Both students played accurate shots, and it was great to see them having fun on the court.

The all-Pius fixtures were played in terrific spirit and is a great reflection of the depth developing and comradery within our Squash team.

If you have any queries or can't make the game please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me on my email sspedding@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au
