Year of St Francis
As we continue through our Year of St Francis, we are reminded of a saint whose life continues to inspire people across centuries. St Francis of Assisi responded to a divided and unequal world with radical simplicity, compassion, and peace. He saw God’s presence in every person and in all creation, choosing humility over status and service over comfort.
In our own time, St Carlo Acutis stands as a modern echo of Francis’s spirit. Though separated by 800 years, Carlo lived the same Gospel values with striking clarity. He used the tools of his generation: technology, creativity, and digital communication to draw people closer to God. Where Francis rebuilt the Church through poverty and peace, Carlo rebuilt hearts through joy, kindness, and a deep love for the Eucharist.
Both Francis and Carlo teach us that holiness is not about extraordinary achievements but about ordinary acts of love lived with extraordinary faith. We are so fortunate at Chatswood to have a relic of St Carlo Acutis in our Church, and this unites us with the broader Church.
St Carlo Acutis relics Pilgrimage
From Monday 3 to Thursday 6 September, the Our Lady of Dolours parish will be hosting a major relic of St Carlo Acutis as they participate in the major relics pilgrimage. All students are invited to attend their 7:00 pm Mass on Monday 3rd. Following Mass, all are welcome to stay and be involved in a 24 hour Eucharistic Adoration and veneration of the relic. You are welcome to attend any part of this Adoration and join with the Parish community for prayers and quiet reflection. Please note that this is a Parish and not a school event so staff will not be present to supervise students.
Father’s Day Mass
A reminder to parents to RSVP and send in a photo which can be used during our Father’s Day Mass. Please use the button below for the link. Please note - closing date to rsvp is Tuesday 1 September.
We’re seeking mothers from our wonderful SPX Community to help with cooking and serving at the Father’s Day BBQ in Chatswood on Friday, 4 September.
There are three one-hour shifts available, starting from 7:00 am through to 10:00 am.
