Defence Club Update

It has been a busy and meaningful couple of weeks at Seymour College, with our Defence students involved in a range of activities, learning experiences, and preparations for upcoming events.

We had the incredible opportunity to attend the Veterans Walk with Victoria Cross recipient Keith Payne, where students gained a deeper understanding of service, sacrifice, and leadership. It was a truly memorable experience, and our students represented the school with pride.

In Defence Club, students have been enjoying a mix of connection, creativity, and fun. From games and conversations to planning upcoming events, it has been wonderful to see new friendships forming and our Defence Captains stepping into leadership roles.

Behind the scenes, we are well underway preparing for our ANZAC Day Ceremony in Term 2. Students have begun working on a visual poppy garden display, and classes will soon start creating wreaths as part of their learning. It’s fantastic to see such strong student involvement in honouring our servicemen and women.

We are also looking ahead to our Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony on August 18, with early planning already in motion to build on last year’s success and increase whole-school participation.

A big thank you to our Defence families and community members who continue to support our programs — whether through attending events, contributing to projects, or simply staying connected.

As always, my door is open for any students or families needing support.

ANZAC Day Preparations

We are busily preparing for our upcoming school ANZAC Day ceremony, with students working hard behind the scenes to create a beautiful visual poppy garden that will be displayed at the entrance to the hall. The ceremony will take place April 24th 9:10am.

All families and community members are warmly invited to attend our student-led ceremony, proudly hosted by our Defence Captains, Alana and Axl. The ceremony will also feature a special guest speaker, along with a reading from our School Captains.

If you would like to attend, please flick me an email so we can ensure we have enough seating available for everyone.
