Senior School

Kieran Gibbons is a Year 12 student at Seymour College who recently completed a work placement with Marshall Cabinets. During this time, Kieran demonstrated a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for the trade, making a positive impression on the team. Kieran’s efforts during the placement particularly impressed business owner Mick Marshall, who recognised his potential and offered him the opportunity to continue in the industry through a school-based apprenticeship. Mick has a strong history of supporting students from Seymour College, regularly providing opportunities for young people.
After enjoying the experience and gaining insight into the cabinet making industry, Kieran accepted the offer and has now commenced his school-based apprenticeship. He will work two days per week with Marshall Cabinets while continuing his Year 12 studies. Kieran’s formal training will be delivered by Murray Mallee Training, who will visit the workplace to provide on-site training and support as he progresses through his apprenticeship.
Good luck Kieran,

Year 11 History Studies
Tim Whitford is an Australian researcher whose work focused on uncovering the fate of missing soldiers from the battle of Fromelles. Driven by the loss of his great uncle Harry, he helped investigate and prove that many soldiers were buried in mass graves at the edge of Pheasant Wood, leading to their excavation, identification through DNA and proper reburial.
In our history class we recently did some work on WWI and looked through the perspectives of Australia and Germany, so this presentation helped us understand that perspective. I personally learned that one person's determination can reshape history and show that the past is still meaningful today.
